Gary Manuel Salon, Studio and Aveda Institute Launch 2012 Earth Month Campaign
SEATTLE (March 2012)– Global Aveda Earth Month champions Gary Manuel Companies are proud to partner with Aveda and Puget Soundkeeper Alliance as they launch their 2012 Earth Month Campaign. Their environmental sustainability practices and Earth Month fundraising achievements combined with their passion have raised over $170,000 for the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, a local environmental non-profit in the Puget Sound.
“Because of this support, Puget Soundkeeper Alliance has been able to expand our efforts to stop toxic pollution from flowing into our streams, lakes, rivers and bays, and bring about positive change for Puget Sound on a larger number of issues,” states Chris Wilke, Executive Director of Puget Soundkeeper Alliance.
This will be Gary Manuel’s fifth year participating in Earth Month fundraising. A calendar of Earth Month events will include:
Sunday, April 1st Cut-A–Thon Fundraiser 11am to 3pm at the Gary Manuel Aveda Institute, 1514 Tenth Avenue, Capitol Hill
Sunday, April 1st Sing A Song for Water from 8pm to 1am, Ozzie’s ,105 West Mercer Street, Queen Anne
Wednesday, April 11th Belltown Trash Cleanup from 8:30am to 10:30am, Gary Manuel Salon, 2127 First Avenue, Belltown
Tuesday, April 17th and Thursday, April 19th Capitol Hill Trash Cleanup from 8:30am to 10:30am, Gary Manuel Aveda Institute, 1514 Tenth Avenue, Capitol Hill

Prestigious Aveda Flower Award Honors Those Who Go Beyond the Call of Duty
SEATTLE (February 2012)– Aveda, The Art and Science of Pure Flower and Plant Essences, presented the Flower Award to Gary Howse and Manuel Benevich, Founders of Gary Manuel Salon in Seattle, WA in recognition for their environmental sustainability practices, Earth Month fundraising achievements and passionate dedication to fight against water pollution.
“Gary and Manuel have earned the Aveda Flower Award through the many good deeds they have done throughout their community. These deeds reach far beyond the amazing Earth Month campaigns that they are famous for in the network and they are an incredible inspiration for everyone to elevate the human spirit, “ stated Dominique Conseil, President of Aveda.
In front of a global audience, Gary Howse accepted the award on behalf of Gary Manuel Salon.

Gary Manuel Salon Releases Earth Month Video to Global Aveda Audience
SEATTLE (February 2012)– Gary Manuel Salon is pleased to announce the release of their 2012 Earth Month video. The 8-minute video vividly showcases the staff’s best practices in an effort to inspire other salons to take action against water pollution. Beauty meets community in their message of salon sustainability practices, recycling, fundraising, and annual neighborhood clean-ups.
“Our Earth Month fundraising for the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance is one of the things Gary Manuel Salon does that I am most proud of, “ stated Co-Founder Gary Howse.
Since joining the Aveda Earth Month Campaign in 2007, more than 100 Gary Manuel employees have raised $170,000 for the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, a local non-profit organization committed to protecting the waters of Puget Sound.
“Thank you Gary, Manuel and team for producing this video which offers a practical best practice framework to target, plan and execute a record-breaking Earth Month campaign,” said Dominique Conseil, President of Aveda.
